Why?Why, So Early?
Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not exactly a morning person. My preferred way to see the dawn is by staying awake all night and collapsing into bed after it peeks its little rays over the horizon. So imagine my surprise and chuffedness when I finally made an early morning gym session. More after the jump
For months now I've been setting my alarm for stupid o'clock with the aim of heading to the gum before work so I could have more time to do other stuff in the evening, Thus far no luck with the matter, until today.
As it is my friend's leaving do at work this evening, and we're heading straight to the pub and then for food after woork, there would be no time to fit a session in tonight. And its time to be getting serious about this training, its less than 2 weeks until the Gloucester Triathlon after all.
So I set the alarm for 6 and although I did snooze it a bit, I was out of the house for 6.50 and in the gym by 7. I was set to do 40 Minutes on the Treadmill (10 Mins @10k 10 x (12k x 1min and 5k x 1min, then 10 Mins @10k). I did my 40 minutes but not exactly as planned as I had to stop after 5 minutes for a loo break. (Top tip kids: Squat before you trot.) and also I was half asleep still. Despite that I did run just under 6k in the time, I think. To be fair I was paying more attention to my calorie count this time.
This was also my first first to Heeley Baths, which was very quiet and looking very fancy for its recent refurbishment. Its not a large gym and you probably wouldn't want to try and fit a long session in here but its great for a quick blast. Also the clientele were lovely, otherwise I'd still be waiting to be ushered into the Gym if a lady hadn't informed me that you just go straight in.
So as I sit here at work, waiting for the day to start, I already feel I've accomplished something. Maybe I'll make a habit of this. Then again bed is so comfy. The dilemmas of a tinpot Ironman in training.
